How is annual consumption estimated?
Sizing capacity is calculated at the outdoor design condition. Annual consumption converts the calculated space-heating demand into seasonal energy using equivalent full-load hours and an indicative SCOP range based on the heat-emitter type. The result is intentionally shown as a range rather than an exact bill.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is this calculator?
It is an indicative pre-selection tool. Final sizing must be technically verified using the real building data and the heat pump performance at the actual operating point.
Does the calculator estimate electricity consumption?
Yes. Calculator 2.0 provides an indicative annual range based on the calculated heat demand, outdoor design temperature and heat emitter type.
Why is consumption shown as a range?
Weather, water temperature, controls and seasonal heat-pump performance can materially change real consumption. A range avoids false precision.
How do radiators affect consumption?
Radiators requiring higher water temperatures generally reduce seasonal efficiency compared with underfloor heating or fan coils.
Is domestic hot water included?
Yes. When DHW is enabled, the calculator includes both a sizing allowance and a separate annual DHW energy estimate.
Can photovoltaic panels cover heat-pump consumption?
They can reduce grid electricity use, but annual PV production is not the same as real self-consumption because heat-pump demand peaks in winter.
